Música
Part of Arte y Corazón
The musical roots of Esperanza programs such as Noche Azul or the Chile Canta series can be traced back to our earlier music series titled MujerCanto. Mujercanto is a celebration of women song and thought; a forum for women writers, performers, musicians and storytellers. Esperanza recognizes all women as creators and contributors to our culture – contributions that historically have been underrepresented or completely disregarded.
Through this approach, Esperanza strives to present local, regional, and international singers, music performers, and musicians year-round. Over 100 artists have performed including Azucar y Crema, a nine-piece women’s salsa band, Lourdes Perez, Lichi Fuentes, Elizabeth Morris, Azul Barrientos, Cuca Morales de Barrientos Rita Vidaurri, Blanca Rosa Rodriguez, Perla Tapatia, Beatriz Llamas, Bett Butler, Joel Dilley, Nina Rodriguez, Las Cafeteras, Jose Seves, Irene Farrera, George Prado, Aaron Prado, Toromata, Lila Downs, Eugenia León, and Susana Baca .
We strive to create opportunities for local and visiting artists to meet, exchange ideas, and create together.
