About MujerArtes
The Cooperativa MujerArtes, located on the Westside, is a 23 year-old project sponsored by the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center. It has been teaching low income Latinas the art of working and creating with clay. A “lost” art in the United States of America, clay work is very much tied to everyday life as well as the universal circle of life. MujerArtes incorporates the cultura of the women in art in order to preserve and tell their stories and historia.
