Event Navigation
“Truly Texas Mexican” is a road movie that weaves through Texas cities, naming the racism that erased indigenous history, while celebrating the food that has kept community memory and heritage alive. Over time and during conquest, Texas Mexican home cooking, or “comida casera,” sustained indigenous identity. Cooking foods like nopalitos, deer, mesquite and tortillas, women were/are leaders in the cultural resistance against colonization.
