SUMMARY:Altars at the Rinconcito de Esperanza
DESCRIPTION:Visit the Rinconcito de Esperanza to view dozens of Día de Muertos altars made by members of our community for our annual Día de Muertos celebration! \nAltars\, known as ofrendas\, hold profound significance in the vibrant tradition of Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). These meticulously crafted altars serve as a poignant homage to departed loved ones\, intertwining Aztec rituals with Catholic influences. Originating in Mexico\, this tradition dates back thousands of years to pre-Columbian times when indigenous communities honored their deceased through rituals coinciding with the harvest season. \nAltars are adorned with marigolds\, papel picado (cut paper)\, candles\, incense\, and the favorite foods\, drinks\, and belongings of the departed. Photos and personal mementos evoke the memories and spirits of the deceased\, bridging the gap between the living and the dead\, creating a space for remembrance\, celebration\, and the belief that the souls of the departed return to commune with their families on this sacred day. \nAltars serve as a focal point of love\, remembrance\, and cultural identity\, offering a beautiful way to honor ancestors and keep their legacies alive for future generations. \nViewing hours are 10am to 5pm each day until the 8th of November. \nFor questions\, call us at 210-228-0201. \n– – \nStreet Parking Only
