SUMMARY:MuteFest III Opening Concert and Mixer
DESCRIPTION:MUTEFEST III: Original Music\, Media and Technology\nFebruary 18-22 2020\, San Antonio\nPresented by the Technology Area of the UTSA Department of Music and MuTe\, UTSA’s Student Music Tech Organization \nOpening Ceremonies: Concert and Mixer\nTuesday\, February 15\, 2020\nEsperanza Peace & Justice Center\n6:00-9:30 pm\n$10 Suggested Donation (optional) \nArrive at 6. There will be delicious food. Mingle with MuTe. Enjoy live music beginning at 7. Performances\nby Mírame and the San Antonio Ambient Orchestra. \nMírame is a Latinx group of millenials and Gen Z neo-hippies based out of San Antonio\, TX\, comprised of\nNatassia Casas (Vocalist)\, Karen Jimenez (Guitarist/Vocalist)\, Angelo Salgado (Keyboardist/Trumpeter)\,\nEnrique Zurita (Drummer)\, William Anderson (Keyboardist/Rapper)\, and Luis Fermin (Bassist/Producer).\nFormed in the Spring of 2018 when they met as students at the University of Texas at San Antonio\n(UTSA). The local sound of San Antonio’s country\, Tejano\, and alternative-rock music scene was disrupted\nby Mírame’s fusion of rock\, hip-hop and Latin grooves. Being that they all have multi-cultural identities\,\nMexican-American and the like\, their music showcases the sound of the first generation to ever embark\non an urban journey at the whims of their parents’ and grandparents’ efforts. Mírame is a part of the\nnext generation of conscious minorities\, using their art as a voice that speaks for Love\, Culture\, and the\nEarth. Listen at: miramemusic.bandcamp.com \nThe San Antonio Ambient Orchestra is a new 15-member ensemble conducted and instantiated by noted\nSan Antonio composer and bandleader Jamail Chachere. Tonight the orchestra builds upon a vehicle by\nAndrew Bergmann called Conveyors\, beginning MuTeFest quietly. The quiet is insistent\, unpredictable\nand lush\, compelling listeners to listen and cleansing the collective palate before our 5-day MuTeFest.
