We’re kicking off this exhibit with the Noche de Cultura on Friday\, May 18 starting at 6pm! \nExhibit will be up until June 11\, 2018. Exhibit hours: Monday-Friday\, 10am-7pm. Please call us at 210.228.0201 to inquire about weekend hours. \nWe are hosting this night and this exhibit as a celebration of the upcoming El Mundo Zurdo Conference. Event is free and open to the public\, donations accepted. \n—– \nEvery 18 months\, the Society for the Study of Gloria Anzaldúa hosts a conference that provides a place for scholars\, students\, and community to come together with the intention of engaging in the continued study of intellectual and spiritual work of Chicana feminist Gloria Evangelina Anzaldúa.

DESCRIPTION:The Esperanza & the Corazones de Esperanza invite the community to our monthly 2nd Saturday Convivio to share stories and memories about living in San Antonio’s Westside. \nThis month’s we invite folks to share stories/memories of the Hays St. Bridge. We also welcome stories and memories of your parents/guardians. \nAs part of the En Aquellos Tiempos project\, these monthly gatherings serve to recover and collect the beautiful and diverse stories from people who live\, have lived\, or have experienced life in one of San Antonio’s most historic Mexican-American/Chican@ communities\, the Westside. \nDuring these events\, different topics and themes are discussed from historic theaters to traditional medicine that existed in the Westside of San Antonio. Young and old are invited to share and listen to the memories in an effort to create bridges. \nInformation on how individuals can contribute to the growing Fotohistorias collection will also be provided. Do you have a photo of San Antonio’s Westside from the 1900’s to the 1950’s that you would like to share? Set up an appointment with us by calling 210.228.0201. SUMMARY:True Stories\, True Lives: Shattering LGBTQ Stereotypes
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our next Queer Corazones de Esperanza event! This event will include a resource table fair and panel on June 9\, 2018. Presentations will be on: LGBTQ employment and negotiating pay\, a short training by Ana Andrea Molina of Organizacion Latina de Trans en Texas\, history and updates on San Antonio’s Non-Discrimination Ordinance\, paid sick time/family leave\, and community members sharing their experiences as members of the San Antonio LGBTQ community. \n  \nAbout the Queer Corazones \nStarted at the Esperanza in the summer of 2016\, the Queer Corazones is a group made up of community members\, Esperanza staff and buena gente. The group organizes some of the LGBTQ+ programming that occurs at the Esperanza. From films to pláticas\, the events are aimed at collectively learning and sharing the experiences\, issues\, and stories of members of the LGBTQ+ community in order to empower\, honor\, uplift\, inspire\, and give hope that life for our marginalized communities will change and improve.
