We’re kicking off this exhibit with the Noche de Cultura on Friday\, May 18 starting at 6pm! \nExhibit will be up until June 11\, 2018. Exhibit hours: Monday-Friday\, 10am-7pm. Please call us at 210.228.0201 to inquire about weekend hours. \nWe are hosting this night and this exhibit as a celebration of the upcoming El Mundo Zurdo Conference. Event is free and open to the public\, donations accepted. \n—– \nEvery 18 months\, the Society for the Study of Gloria Anzaldúa hosts a conference that provides a place for scholars\, students\, and community to come together with the intention of engaging in the continued study of intellectual and spiritual work of Chicana feminist Gloria Evangelina Anzaldúa.

DESCRIPTION:Join us Saturday\, June 16 at 8 PM for our monthly Noche Azul concert. This month the theme is TANGOS! \nDoors open at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $7 más o menos at the door\, but any more donations are appreciated. Seating is first-come first-served. Concessions will be available for purchase. \nABOUT AZUL: Azul Barrientos\, a popular San Antonio musician and performer\, was born in Mexico City\, Mexico. Professionally trained\, and inspired by her parents and singers of old\, she has been the artist-in-residence at the Esperanza Center since 2007. Throughout her life she has used her music as a way to make political statements and give voice to various social justice issues. From singing about women in the Mexican Revolution\, to sharing the story of the 43 student teachers from Ayotzinapa who went missing in 2014 in Mexico\, Azul’s style and message vary with every Noche Azul concert. \nABOUT NOCHE AZUL: Noche Azul de Esperanza is our ongoing series of intimate cafe style performances with acclaimed singer/songwriter Azul Barrientos. Featuring a new theme and musical lineup each month\, Noche Azul showcases traditional Mexican songs while highlighting the cultural influences and interconnections between Latin America\, Spain and Mexico.
