SUMMARY:Equality Texas presents: We Were Children Too
DESCRIPTION:EQUALITY TEXAS presents:\n\nWe Were Children Too – A Conversation about Growing Up Trans \n2023 was a hard year for our Trans community in Texas. Many of us saw our personhood and identity being challenged day after day. \nWe saw the far right incessantly screaming “Save the Children” while they were bullying trans children. \nThey repeatedly painted us trans people as “groomers\,” they villainized us\, blocked us from telling our stories\, silenced us in our OWN Capitol… and they all forgot that we trans adults at one point\, were children too. \nSo join Equality Texas\, Friday\, January 19\, at 6PM at the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center\, where we will be having a conversation with Trans Adults who will share stories of the good and the bad in their childhood\, what they did to cope and how they survived and thrive in Adulthood. \nBecause one thing is for certain\, whether you like it or not… we Trans Adults\, were Children Too. \nModerator – Kimiya Factory\, founder of Black Freedom Factory \nPanelists: \nLeo Castillo\, Community Advocate;\nJoan Simoncelli\, Comedianne and Advocate;\nLyn-Z Andrews\, Performer and Advocate;\nRain Garcia\, Founder of Unfiltered Wings\, HIV Advocate\nJaycee Clark\, Artist and Advocate.
