DESCRIPTION:Voz de La Paloma: Un Homenaje a Beatriz Llamas\nCelebrate the talent and the passion of cantante Beatriz Llamas\, “La Paloma del Norte\,” who passed away recently on May 15\, 2023\, at age 84. Her influence remains and will continue to inspire others for decades to come.Beatríz Llamas was a world renowned ranchera singer who was highly regarded for her contribution to Tejano music. She was the first Tejana to sing at Madison Square Garden and was inducted into the Tejano Music Hall of Fame in 1995. Late in life\, Beatríz came out of retirement to join the beloved musical quartet known as Las Tesoros de San Antonio brought together by the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center. \nTo honor Llamas’ roots in talent competitions that nurtured her early singing career\, the event will begin with an afternoon singing competition for young women ages 10 and up.
