DESCRIPTION:Come celebrate Diez y Seis with the women of MujerArtes! Join us for the opening of their Fiestas Patrias de Mujer Artes exhibit and art sale on Sept. 16 from 5 PM-8PM at the Casa de MujerArtes (1412 El Paso).\nThe artwork can be seen through Oct. 15\, Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM-5 PM. \nThe women draw on Mexican and Mexican-American culture and depict familiar themes and scenes in various clay artworks.\nThe women have also been creating tiles that will go into their new adobe studio that we are building at the Rinconcito de Esperanza (816 S. Colorado). \nAbout MujerArtes\nThe Cooperativa MujerArtes\, located on the Westside\, is a 21 year-old project sponsored by the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center. It has been teaching low income Latinas the art of working and creating with clay. A “lost” art in the United States of America\, clay work is very much tied to everyday life as well as the universal circle of life.
