DESCRIPTION:Featuring:\nGenoa Yanez Alaniz\, Carmen Tafolla\, ire’ne lara silva\, Andi Garcia-Linn\, Joyous Windrider\, Daisy Bermea\, and Antonia Murguia \nJoin us Tuesday\, October 2\, for Chicanas Read the Poetry of Healing at the Esperanza! \nLOVING\, GRIEVING & SURVIVING follows the poetic voices of Chicana writers who have faced difficult problems with family deaths\, suicides\, mental illness & grief\, and found healing through celebration of the love that was embodied in these losses. Poets Carmen Tafolla\, Genoa Yáñez-Alaniz\, & Poet/Author ire’ne lara silva are joined by Abril Garcia-Linn\, Daisy M. Bermea\, Joyous Windrider Jiménez\, and Antonia Murguía in reading from their poetry of grief\, love\, and healing in a powerful presentation from a feminist and humanistic perspective. \nThe event will be emceed by Dr. Sally Andrade is an educator\, researcher\, and community organizer & President of Andrade & Associates and former Director of the Center for Institutional. Research\, Evaluation & Planning at UTEP – The University of Texas at El Paso and previously Director of Research & Planning at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has now returned to San Antonio\, where she continues community involvement for literacy and immigration issues.
