DESCRIPTION:Join us in honoring our antepasados and conserving the traditions of our Mexican heritage and the Westside\, at our annual Día de Muertos celebration \nat the Rinconcito de Esperanza (816 S. Colorado\, San Antonio\, TX 78207). \nAdmission is free. \nThere will be displays of community altars/ofrendas\, live music\, food\, and much more! The evening will highlight readings of literary ofrendas to remember our dead\, and calavera poems that poke fun at the living and their untimely encounters with La Muerte or La Catrina. We will also have a procession through the neighborhood\, so please join us! Folks are welcome to dress up and bring an instrument or noise maker for the procession. \nEmail digital photos to be included in the Community Altar to ofrendas@esperanzacenter.org by Sunday\, October 29\, 2023 before 11:59 PM. \nMake sure to visit MujerArtes Cooperativa de Esperanza in their studio at the Rinconcito\, artists will be selling Day of the Dead and other clay artworks.\nConcessions will be available. Vegan options will be offered. Bring your chairs & set-up to watch the performances.\nDancing is encouraged! \nOur live performances will commence at 5PM and we will be holding a procession beginning at 6PM. \n5:00 PM Conjunto Heritage Taller\n5:30 PM Alyson Alonzo\n6:00 PM Community Procession with Danza Azteca group & Kalpulli Ayolopaktzin\n6:15 PM Trio Cantares de Mi Tierra with Henry Gomez\n7:15 PM Juan Tejeda and Armando Tejeda\n8:00 PM Panfilo’s Güera with Belen Escobedo\n9:00 PM Bene Medina Y Su Conjunto Aguila \nAdditionally\, el Conjunto de Rito y Hunter will grace the entire Rinconcito throughout the night performing traditional redobas and  chotices\, walzes y más!\nBring your chairs & set-up to watch the performances!\nDancing is encouraged! \n  \n\nMujerArtes studio will be open Monday through Friday 9 AM to 4 PM and in addition\, Saturday\, October 21\, from 10 AM to 5 PM.\nSo stop by the MujerArtes’ beautiful compressed earth block studio\, located at the Rinconcito de Esperanza\, to meet the artists and purchase work inspired by Día de Muertos. Over a hundred handmade works\, including Day of the Dead themed calacas\, skulls\, calaveras\, earrings\, necklaces and más will be on sale. \n_____ \nConvenient Parking is marked in Blue.
