DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, August 14th at 11:30AM CT via Zoom for the virtual writing workshop\, “Breaking Silences & Envisioning the Future: A Generative Creative Writing Workshop Part 2\,” with Emmy Pérez\, Texas Poet Laureate 2020 and co-founder of Poets Against Walls. \nIn this workshop we will continue where we left off after the first one\, and for those who registered for the first one but could not attend\, you are also welcome to join this one! Special guest writer and activist Sehba Sarwar will also join the workshop and share tips and a writing exercise. \nRegister for the virtual workshop here on Eventbrite\, there are 20 spots available at this point!\nbit.ly/EnvisioningtheFuture \nSpanish Interpretation will be provided. \nEmmy Pérez\, Texas Poet Laureate 2020 and co-founder of Poets Against Walls\, is the author of With the River on Our Face and Solstice. She is a professor of creative writing at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and also serves as associate director of the Center for Mexican American Studies. Currently\, she is the 2021 Consulting Artist-in-Residence for the Just Futures project with UTSA in collaboration with the Esperanza. The second edition of her novel Black Wings was released in 2019 (Veliz Books)\, and her work has appeared in New York Times\, Creative Time Reports\, Callaloo and elsewhere.
