29th Annual Peace Market/Mercado de Paz – 2018

Bringing people together in the tradition of open-air markets in indigenous communities around the world, the International Peace Market (Mercado de Paz) offers an alternative to holiday retail shopping by giving community direct access to global and local artisans selling one-of-a-kind handmade goods.

As one of the oldest annual open-air, arts and craft international markets, the Mercado de Paz offers a community-centered alternative shopping destination during the busiest corporate shopping days of the year. Over 100 international and local artists/artisans will offer visitors a variety of artful, beautifully handmade items including rugs, pottery, textiles, hand-embroidered clothing, paintings, sculptures y más, filling the Esperanza’s two-story building, the back patio and spilling out into the street.

Due to popular demand, this year the 29th Annual International Peace Market will continue to be held for 3 days!
Peace Market will run from
 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, November 23rd and Saturday, November 24th, 2018, and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 25th at the Esperanza, 922 San Pedro Ave.

  • Costo al vendedor: Esperanza cobra un 20% a 40% del total de las ventas al final de cada día del Mercado —según el tamaño y sitio del espacio que ocupa. Lo siguiente explica el costo de sitios:

    6 pies Adentro = 30%
    6 pies Afuera = 20%

    8 pies Adentro = 35%
    8 pies Afuera = 25%

    10 pies Adentro = 40% (Sólo si hay espacio)
    Carpas de 10 pies x 10 pies = 35%

    *Si necesita usar electricidad indiquelo en Pregunta #7. El precio único por el uso de electricidad es $10 y se paga al final del primer día si se necesita electricidad durante cualquiera de los 3 días.*

    Nota: Los costos de espacios adentro son más altos que los de afuera. Los espacio grandes de afuera al aire libre tiene capacidad para una carpa de 10 pies x 10 pies. Carpas sólo se permiten en la calle Evergreen. You may fill out an application online in English or Spanish, download the application and print it, or pick up a copy at the offices of the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center (922 San Pedro Ave.) starting early July. The deadline to submit your application is October 8th. The market is a 3-day commitment.

  • Please include links to any social media accounts you have for your business. This will be used for promotional purposes, such as tagging accepted artists in Peace Market online posts.
  • The Peace Market sells handmade & fair-trade goods that promote peace, justice and cultural/ecological concerns.
  • What makes your products unique? NOTE: This language will be used for promotional purposes to describe what Peace Market vendors will be selling.
  • Peace Market only sells unique or handcrafted/ Remember, handmade/original products made by artists or artisans are a priority! We do not accept goods that are mass-produced!
  • VENDOR FEES: Esperanza charges between 20-40% of total sales at the end of each Market day. Fees are based on the size and location of the space used by each vendor. Footage referes to the width of the storefront. Spaces vary in depth and availability of wall space. The following explains the costs of spaces available:

    6ft. Indoor = 30%
    6ft. Outdoor = 20%

    8ft. Indoor = 35%
    8ft. Outdoor = 25%

    10ft. Indoor = 40% (limited availability)
    10ft. x 10ft Outdoor Tents = 35% (Street only, not Patio)

    *If electricity is needed, request it in Question #7. A $10 flat fee will be due at the end of the 1st day if electricity is needed during any of the 3 days.*

    Note: Costs for indoor spaces are higher than outdoors. A large space outdoors accommodates a 10ft x 10ft tent outside on Evergreen St. Vendors must provide their own tents for these spaces. | Either: I would be fine with an indoor or outdoor placement. (Flexibility is appreciated.) | Indoors: Secure from weather. May be covered on Friday and Saturday night at your own risk. | Outdoors (street & patio): Requires site breakdown overnight between market days.
  • Note: We provide 2 plastic folding chairs for your use. Please include any additional concerns or needs regarding your set-up. Please indicate whether you'll need electricity, as it is not available at all locations. Set-up must stay within the limits of the space assigned.
